2027 Ina Loitzl – Longing

The exhibition “Longing” by the artist Ina Loitzl, which will be on view in the Nordstall of the Kaiservilla in Bad Ischl in spring 2027, will consist of an expansive installation that deals with Empress Elisabeth and her lifelong striving for independence and emancipation. This finally manifested itself through her anchor tattoo, which “Sisi” had tattooed on her left shoulder blade at the advanced age of 51. This symbol of rebellion is therefore also a central component of Loitzl’s artistic approach. In her art, Loitzl herself always deals with the role of women in society. That’s why Sisi embodies “… the longing for freedom, beauty, adventure and a self-determined life away from court ceremonies, which was expressed not least in their restlessness, their travels, their poetry and the desire for nature – especially the sea.” Quote Ina Loitzl.
