The meaning of frame and pedestal to raise the work of art is something that both artists and exhibition organizers have to deal with again and again.
In the exhibition, therefore, attention is not devoted to the framed subject or the raised object, but to the frame and the pedestals themselves. The works on show deal with these instruments of staged art elevation – analysing, investigating and transforming them.
